Evaluación de extractos vegetales sobre incidencia y severidad de Hemileia vastatrix en cultivo de café

Resumen

La roya del cafeto (Hemileia vastatrix) es una enfermedad destructiva y de mayor importancia a nivel mundial que afecta a los estados principales productores y exportadores de café orgánico en México, afectando directamente su productividad por la caída prematura de la hojas limitando la capacidad fotosintética de la planta, para su control se implementan costosas estrategias basadas con la aplicación de fungicidas químicos, donde un 97% de la producción se ubica en zonas de alta y muy alta  marginación,  una de las alternativas para el control de la roya, es el uso de extractos vegetales los cuales han sido reportados con propiedades preventivas y curativas  contra de diversos agentes fitopatógenos. Por esto, se evaluó el efecto en la severidad de H. vastatrix en dos variedades susceptibles, Típica y Caturra en parcelas tratadas con extractos vegetales de: Canela (Cinnamomum verum), Naranja (Citrus sinensis), Gobernadora (Larrea tridentata), Eucalipto (Eucalyptus glogulus), Mostaza - Pimienta (Brassica nigra - Piper nigrum). La media de severidad más alta fue el testigo variedad Típica con un 61.866%, se observó una reducción significativa en todos los extractos evaluados, los menores registros de severidad en ambas variedades se presentaron en los tratamientos de Cinnamomum verum y Citrus sinensis, con valores de 15.47 y 19.683 % y 4.733 y 4% para Típica y Caturra respectivamente, por lo que se recomienda la inclusión de ambos extractos vegetales en el manejo integrado de la roya del cafeto.
