Genotipos de Portulaca oleracea L. ante estrés salino por NaCl: un análisis multivariado

La verdolaga (Portulaca oleracea L.) es una especie con potencial creciente ante el incremento de la salinidad de los suelos agrícolas y pozos de agua profunda. La salinidad es uno de los factores de estrés abiótico más limitantes para la agricultura en zonas áridas. Esta situación demanda la identificación de cultivos resilientes con valor agregado. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la respuesta morfológica, pigmentaría, bioquímica y colorimetría de genotipos mexicanos de P. oleracea bajo estrés salino, utilizando un análisis multivariado. La investigación se llevó a cabo en Francisco I. Madero, Coahuila, México, donde se sometieron los cultivares Cuautla, Xochimilco y la variedad Hoja ancha a concentraciones de 0, 4, 8, 12 y 16 dS m-1. Se evaluaron variables de crecimiento, coordenadas de color CIE, compuestos bioactivos, pigmentos fotosintéticos y no fotosintéticos. Como resultado, se encontró una reducción significativa de hasta 66% del peso fresco al comparar el testigo (0 dS m-1) y 12 dS m-1. En cambio, los pigmentos fotosintéticos (carotenoides, clorofila a y b) y no fotosintéticos (betacianinas y betaxantinas) no presentaron diferencias estadísticas significativas. El análisis de componentes principales (ACP) evidenció que la verdolaga limitó su desarrollo ante el estrés salino; luego priorizó la acumulación de fenoles e incrementó su capacidad antioxidante como respuesta metabólica. Además, Las variables colorimétricas se asociación con la conductividad eléctrica. En síntesis, los genotipos examinados en esta investigación toleran niveles inferiores a 12 dS m-1 con pérdidas menores de rendimiento y aumentan su calidad nutracéutica en concentraciones superiores.
