Resumen

El género Sargassum posee un alto valor biotecnológico debido a su contenido de compuestos bioactivos y nutrientes, esto lo posiciona como materia prima prometedora para el desarrollo de insumos agrícolas sostenibles. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar el potencial bioestimulante de un hidrolizado obtenido en condiciones ácidas de Sargassum horridum sobre la germinación y el desarrollo inicial de plántulas de pepino (Cucumis sativus) comparado a un producto comercial (Trialga-L®). Plántulas tratadas con el hidrolizado de Sargassum horridum mostraron un crecimiento de tallo y raíz significativamente superior al observado con el producto comercial. Aunque la concentración de 2.0 mS cm-1 redujo el contenido de clorofila y disminuyó el índice de velocidad de germinación con respecto al control, se concluye que el hidrolizado de S. horridum constituye una mezcla capaz de sustentar el desarrollo de plántulas, validando su uso como estrategia para la valorización de algas pardas en la agricultura.
