Call for papers Special Issue “Bioprospecting and Circular Economy”

CALL FOR PAPERS

Given the importance of disseminating scientific knowledge generated around bioprospecting, sustainable use of natural resources and circular economy in territorial development issues, and the space that the journals included in the National System of Scientific and Humanistic Publications (SNPCyH), of the Secretaría de Ciencia, Humanidades, Tecnología e Innovación (SECIHTI), and in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) index, a call is issued for contributions to the

Special Issue “Bioprospecting and Circular Economy” of the journal Ecosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios (ERA)

Considering the following:

1. We will accept original, unpublished scientific articles and research notes on the following topics:

- Bioprospecting and characterization of biological resources with agricultural, health, and environmental potential;
- Biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, and ecosystem services;
- Sustainable agricultural and livestock production with a circular economy approach;
- Integral use of agro-industrial residues;
- Agroecology, traditional farming systems, and sustainable practices;
- Technologies and innovation transfer in agricultural and environmental systems.


Due to the editorial policies of the journal, ERA will not receive literature reviews for special issues.

2. Contributions should be written according to the journal's Author Guidelines and submitted through its editorial platform (https://era.ujat.mx/index.php/rera) according to its template. In addition, contributors must attach a letter of originality and a request for possible publication, signed by all authors, which specifies that the contribution is submitted for the special issue, "Bioprospecting and Circular Economy." This should also be indicated in the "Comments for the Editor" section on the journal's OJS website.

3. The editorial process will be subject to the following schedule:

Opening of the call for papers: July 1, 2025
Reception: From opening to October 31, 2025
Peer Review: August 1, 2025 to December 15, 2025
Addressing observations: One month from the date of the journal's communication
Corrections in final version sent: One month after the journal's communication.
Layout and galley proofs: April 28 to May 15, 2026.
Publication of the special issue: May 29, 2026.

ERA follows a continuous publication pattern; therefore, some articles may comply with the editorial process and be published before May 2026.

4. All authors must adhere to the scheduled dates since the special issue will be processed directly on the platform and no extensions will be granted. Authors who do not comply, will be excluded from the special issue. Authors whose contributions are accepted with corrections but have a lengthy correction process may opt to be included in regular issues of the journal.

5. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for each accepted contribution in 2026 is projected to be 3,500 Mexican pesos (M.N.). This amount may vary according to institutional policies or administrative changes. This fee must be paid once the contribution is accepted. If an invoice is needed, the necessary forms and requirements will be sent with the galley proof. Payment is made directly to Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco via the link provided on the ERA webpage. Payment must be made individually by the author responsible for each article, even when the invoice is requested in the name of the institution to which the author belongs.
