Resumen

Las lactonas macrocíclicas (LM) son fármacos antiparasitarios de uso rutinario en la ganadería bovina tropical. Después de su administración, estos fármacos son eliminados en las heces del animal tratado, causando un efecto tóxico sobre la fauna coprófila que provee servicios ecosistémicos como el reciclaje del excremento para facilitar el retorno de nutrientes al suelo del pastizal. Se realizaron bioensayos para determinar el efecto letal y subletal de heces de bovinos tratados con ivermectina (IVM-1% en dosis de 0.2 mg kg−1 p.v. e IVM-3.15% en dosis de 0.63 mg kg−1 p.v.) y moxidectina (MOX-1% en dosis de 0.2 mg kg−1 p.v. y MOX-10% en dosis de 1.0 mg kg−1 p.v.) sobre el escarabajo estercolero Canthon indigaceus chevrolati, una especie que habita los sistemas ganaderos del trópico. El excremento de los animales tratados se recuperó a los -1, 5 y 14 días postratamiento, para ser expuesto a parejas de C. i. chevrolati en el laboratorio y determinar su efecto sobre las variables: número de bolas nido construidas, número de imagos emergidos, número de días a la emergencia de imagos, gramos de excremento consumido y proporción de escarabajos emergidos en cada uno de los diferentes tratamientos evaluados. No se encontraron efectos letales ni subletales en los diferentes bioensayos realizados. Los resultados sugieren que esta especie de escarabajo estercolero presenta algún tipo de tolerancia (natural o inducida) a la IVM y a la MOX.
