Focus and Scope
Ecosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios is an international journal continuously published three times per year in January, May, and September.
The journal aims to create a space for discussion and dissemination of results and advances in original and unpublished scientific research by researchers from any educational institution, national or international research center, in electronic open-access format. The journal encompasses topics related to Agronomic sciences, Animal science, Environmental science, Wildlife, Natural recourses conservation, Ecology, and other fields related to Livestock science and Agroecosystems.
Ecosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios
publishes original scientific articles, scientific notes, and review articles in an electronic open-access format. In the case of review articles, submissions are accepted by invitation only, extended by the Editorial Board to leading specialist within the scope of the journal.
The journal is included in the Jounal Citation Reports (JCR), Emerging Source Citation Index (ESCI), SciELO Citation Index, SciELO México, DOAJ, Latindex, Agris FAO, Fuente Académica Plus (EBSCO), Actualidad Iberoamericana, Dialnet, Periódica, Red Iberoamericana de Innovación y Conocimiento Científico, Biblat, Open Science Directory, CAPES, Agricultural & Environmental Science Database (ProQuest), and CAB Abstracts (CABI), Scilit, DOAJ, Open Alex, among others.
Peer Review Process
For publication approval, manuscript submitted to the journal will be reviewed and evaluated by the Editorial Board, in a desk review, and by external reviewers in a doble-blind peer review.
If the authors have chosen to deposit their manuscripts in SciELO Preprints prior to submission to the journal, they understand that author anonymity will be not maintained, although the identity of the external reviewers will remain confidential. Only manuscripts published as preprints in the form of scientific articles are eligible for submission.
Open-access policy
This journal provides open access to its content, based on the principle that free access to scientific research findings strengthens the appreciation of knowledge as a public good, whose benefits should be extended to society as a whole.
Publication fees and costs
Ecosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios is supported through Publication Cost Contribution (PCC), which are not intended for commercial purposes but rather to cover the maintenance of information technology infrastructure (servers and OJS maintenance), Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), XML coding, and other essential services that ensures editorial quality, visibility and the dissemination of published papers.
Since January 1, 2026, the journal requires a fee of MXN $3,500 (Three thousand five hundred Mexican pesos) for each article accepted for publication. This fee remains comparable to, or lower than, those charged by other journals in this field of knowledge.
Payment of the PCC is required only after the manuscript has been accepted for publication, following receipt of the galley proofs and prior to the electronic publication of the article. The contribution may be made through the payment module available on the journal’s website or at a bank branch using the payment form generated by the same module.
All contributions are deposited into an institutional account and are managed in accordance with the current “Programa de Ahorro, Austeridad, Racionalidad y Diciplina del Gasto de la Universidad Juáres Autónoma de Tabasco”.
PCC Exemptions and waivers
The following cases shall be exempt from Publication Cost Contributions:
- Review articles made under express invitation of the journal’s editorial board, led by the editor-in-chief.
- Following an analysis by the editor-in-chief and at least one associate editor, a waiver may be granted on humanitarian grounds in exceptional cases where the authors can demonstrate financial insolvency. To request such a waiver, authors must submit, at the time of manuscript submission through OJS, a signed justification letter explaining the reason for the request and the supporting documentation that, according to authors, demonstrates their financial insolvency.
Journal History
Ecosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios is a multidisciplinary journal published three times per year by Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco since 2014. The journal follows a continuous publication model. It publishes the results of original scientific research in the form of Scientific Articles, Scientific Notes, Review Articles, and Forum contributions and/or Letters to the editor.
In the scientific articles category, manuscripts may be previously deposited in the SciELO Preprints platform, however, they must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication in another journal, whether electronic or print.
For the scientific notes, review articles, and forum contributions and/or letters to the editor categories, manuscripts must be strictly original and must not be under consideration for publication in another journal.
Plagiarism Detection
The journal publishes only original text. All submitted articles are analyzed using the iThenticate software as part of the arbitration process, in order to detect similarities that could be considered plagiarism.
cosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios reserves the right to reject submissions in which any of the following practices are detected:

Inclusion of previously published fragments, regardless of their length, whether from the authors themselves (self-citation) or from other uninvolved parties, without proper attribution.

Duplicate publication or simultaneous submission to another journal.
Scientific articles that have been deposited in SciELO Preprints prior to submission to this journal will likewise be analyzed using the aforementioned software.
Statement about the use of Artificial Intelligence
Ecosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios journal recognizes the relevance of Generative Artificial Intelligence tools within the framework of scientific research and the communication of findings. However, such tools cannot replace human critical thinking, therefore, authors are considered solely responsible for the papers submitted to the journal.
In view of the above, authors submitting papers for possible publication must declare the use of generative AI during the manuscript preparation process. It is recommended to declare the use of generative AI when:
- It was used to formulate research questions or hypothesis.
- It assisted in writing, rewriting, summarizing, or translating sections of the article into another language.
- It was used to collect, analyze, interpret or visualize data (quantitative or qualitative).
- It was used to design and conduct experiments.
- It was used to extract and organize bibliographic data.
- It was used to generate images included in the article.
The AI use statement must be placed before the references or papers cited section, toward the end of the article. This statement may be written following the model below:
During the research and/or preparation of the manuscript, the authors used (name of the AI or tool) for the purpose of (purpose). The review, verification, editing, and interpretation of the information provided by (name of the AI or tool) were carried out by the authors, who assume full responsibility for the published content.
During the desk review, the editorial team uses iThenticate software to identify potential AI-generated text. The detection of undeclared or excessive use of AI may result in requests for revision or the rejection of the manuscript.
Access and reuse policy
Ecosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios journal operated under the Creativee Commons CC BY-NC-SA license through Volume 11, Issue 3 (September-December 2024). Since Volume 12, Issue 1 (January-April 2025), all published articles are distributed under the Crative Commons CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license ( https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/deed.es_ES). Articles may be reproduced for any non-commercial purpose, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author. The creation of derivative works is not permitted.
Content preservation policies
Ecosistemas y Productos Agropecuarios promotes self-archiving by authors in the repositories of the institutions to which they belong, as well as on personal websites or thematic platforms. This must be done using the post-print version of the article, which includes revised metadata, journal graphic elements, and the assigned DOI.
Additionally, the journal uses the PKP Preservation Network service, which ensures content persistence in case of a trigger event that leads to the end of the publication.
Likewise, published articles are stored in the Repositorio Institucional UJAT.
Interoperability protocols
Ecosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios is hosted on an OJS (Open Journal Systems) platform, which uses the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) protocol to facilitate the transfer of digital resources.
Additionally, OJS implements the Dublin Core protocol for managing metadata associated with published articles
