Anti-Plagiarism Policy and Use of AI
Plagiarism Detection
The journal publishes only original text. All submitted articles are analyzed using the iThenticate software as part of the arbitration process, in order to detect similarities that could be considered plagiarism.
Ecosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios reserves the right to reject submissions in which any of the following practices are detected:
-
Inclusion of previously published fragments, regardless of their length, whether from the authors themselves (self-citation) or from other uninvolved parties, without proper attribution.
-
Duplicate publication or simultaneous submission to another journal.
Scientific articles that have been deposited in SciELO Preprints prior to submission to this journal will likewise be analyzed using the aforementioned software.
Statement about the use of Artificial Intelligence
Ecosistemas y Recursos Agropecuarios journal recognizes the relevance of Generative Artificial Intelligence tools within the framework of scientific research and the communication of findings. However, such tools cannot replace human critical thinking, therefore, authors are considered solely responsible for the papers submitted to the journal.
In view of the above, authors submitting papers for possible publication must declare the use of generative AI during the manuscript preparation process. It is recommended to declare the use of generative AI when:
-
It was used to formulate research questions or hypothesis.
-
It assisted in writing, rewriting, summarizing, or translating sections of the article into another language.
-
It was used to collect, analyze, interpret or visualize data (quantitative or qualitative).
-
It was used to design and conduct experiments.
-
It was used to extract and organize bibliographic data.
-
It was used to generate images included in the article.
The AI use statement must be placed before the references or papers cited section, toward the end of the article. This statement may be written following the model below:
During the research and/or preparation of the manuscript, the authors used (name of the AI or tool) for the purpose of (purpose). The review, verification, editing, and interpretation of the information provided by (name of the AI or tool) were carried out by the authors, who assume full responsibility for the published content.
During the desk review, the editorial team uses iThenticate software to identify potential AI-generated text. The detection of undeclared or excessive use of AI may result in requests for revision or the rejection of the manuscript.
