              Abstract

Trichoderma spp. and Bacillus spp., are used as biofertilizers in organic agriculture because they are growth promoters and inducers of the plant defense system. The objective of this work was to evaluate the biofertilizer effect of coffee endophytic Trichoderma and Bacillus species in maize (Zea mays) cultivation. Four species of the genus Trichoderma (T. longibrachiatum C1ca, T. asperellum C3moa, T. hamatum C10AOa, T. reesei C11M) and two species of Bacillus (B. amyloliquefaciens B49 and B. subtilis B17) were evaluated, where the treatments were combinations of fungi, bacteria and 50 and 100 % fertilization, having a total of 17 treatments and one control. The experiment was set up in completely randomized blocks with four replications. The variables that were measured were plant height, dry weight of roots, stems, leaves and yield. The data obtained were performed an analysis of variance (ANOVA) and a Tukey mean comparison test (P £0.05) using Minitab 19. As results, it was found that Trichoderma and Bacillus species promoted the growth of corn plants and increased the yield of the crop grain even in the treatments with 50 % fertilization, surpassing the absolute control and the treatment with 100 % fertilization. The application of Trichoderma and Bacillus increases corn yield and reduces the application of chemical fertilizer doses by up to 50 %.
